Now in its fourth year, Politics & Art is an annual event presented by Washington Performing Arts' Mars Urban Arts Initiative and Councilmember David Grosso, and held at The Wilson Building in Washington, D.C. This year’s theme will be District Voxa celebration of voice—from song to spoken word. District Vox will be held on June 14 from 5:30-8pm. Artists and ensembles are invited to apply free of charge, and will be selected by a panel of arts and community leaders. (Panelists from the District Vox Advisory Panel will review the first 100 submissions.)

CALL FOR ARTISTS
Politics & Art: District Vox 2018 will spotlight D.C.-based artists who use the power of their voices to inspire, entertain, and empower.  We invite artists who live in the District to apply to participate in District Vox 2018 and to tell us how they would like to use their voices—whether in song, spoken word, or a host of other expressive modes—to channel stories and share messages. This is a showcase format, with multiple locations that will be activated within The Wilson Building. Each artist/ensemble will perform for approximately ten (10) minutes.

The deadline to apply is Monday, April 9, 2018, and details for consideration are below. The cost of submitting an application has been underwritten, so applicants may apply free of charge! The 2018 event is presented by Washington Performing Arts’ Mars Urban Arts Initiative and is generously supported by Jacqueline Badger Mars and Mars, Incorporated.
