In the spirit of Washington Performing Arts Founder Patrick Hayes' personal catchphrase—and our organizational motto—“Everybody in; nobody out,” Washington Performing Arts offers a select number of $10 tickets to all of its performances through the Gateway Student Ticket Program. Each student may order up to two (2) tickets with a valid student ID.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Washington Performing Arts define “student”?
The Gateway Student Ticket program strives to complement lifelong learning. Anyone currently enrolled in academic coursework who holds a student ID is eligible. For children in primary and secondary school, a parent may order on their behalf as long as the student is present to pick up when the tickets are collected from Will Call. 

How many tickets may I order to a performance? Are tickets available for all performances?
Since we have a limited quantity of Gateway Student Tickets available to each performance, we allow up to two (2) student tickets per ID. 

Gateway Student Tickets are available for all Washington Performing Arts performances, but quantities vary. Student tickets often sell out for popular events, so we recommend ordering your tickets as early as possible.

How do I order my tickets?
Currently, Gateway Student Tickets are available online for General Admission venues (Baird Auditorium, McEvoy Auditorium, Rasmuson Theater, Sixth & I) and by phone at (202) 785-9727 for all other performances.

Do I get to select my own seats?
Gateway Student Ticket holders are seated throughout the hall at the discretion of our Ticket Services Manager. At General Admission venues (Baird Auditorium, McEvoy Auditorium, Rasmuson Theater, Sixth & I), patrons do not receive a seating assignment and may select their own seats upon arrival. Please review our website and pre-performance emails for further details on when doors open.

What if I want to sit near my friend (or family members) who also ordered Gateway Student Tickets?
Let us know as soon as you realize both of you have tickets to the show, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Are Gateway Student Tickets available for student groups?
Please contact the Group Sales office at groupsales@washingtonperformingarts.org or (202) 533-1898 to discuss group ticketing options.

I have an accessibility request and/or required accommodation. What do I do?
Please note any accommodations including seating requirements when you place your order. Accommodations such as listening enhancement devices, wheelchair accessibility, and large print programs vary from venue to venue. For specific information, please contact Ticket Services at (202) 785-9727.

When do I get my tickets?
Tickets will be available under the student's name at the Washington Performing Arts table at the venue 90 minutes before the advertised performance start time. Please have your student ID with you to claim your tickets.
