Celebrating one of the most revered pianists and teachers of the last century
Who doesn’t love a celebration? Join us as we fête esteemed pianist and pedagogue Leon Fleisher on the occasion of his 90th birthday. The evening includes performances by onetime Fleisher protégé Jonathan Biss, the Dover Quartet, and double bassist Rachel Calin, appearances by surprise guests—via video—who will share their birthday greetings with the master, and a Q&A with Washington Post chief classical music critic Anne Midgette, who co-authored Fleisher’s memoir, My Nine Lives.
Linger Longer: Join Washington Performing Arts' Junior Board for pre-concert drinks at Kingbird at the Watergate Hotel, beginning at 6pm (cash bar).
Dover Quartet serves as the quartet-in-residence for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
This performance is made possible in part through the generous support of Susan S. Angell; Mary and Chris Mahle; Anne and Burton Fishman; Maria Voultsides and Thomas C. Chisnell, II; and an anonymous donor.
