Capital Jazz Camp provides a two-week introduction to multiple jazz styles and improvisation. With a focus on small group rehearsals and workshops, students will have close interaction with our talented faculty, including renowned artists from the DC region. Classes include jazz theory, ear training, and instruction in instrumental and vocal techniques. The camp culminates with a student-led performance to showcase all they’ve learned!

Capital Strings Camp is the perfect opportunity for elementary school students to try out a violin, viola, cello, or bass. Through two weeks of hands-on instruction by professional string teachers, Capital Strings Camp is designed to build good beginner techniques and strengthen the playing of students who’ve had some prior experience. Students will rehearse in small groups, participate in vocal workshops and ear training classes, and experience playing in a full string orchestra! The talented faculty creates a fun, safe environment for all students to grow. Capital Strings Camp culminates with a student-led performance to showcase all they’ve learned. Washington Performing Arts can provide a limited number of string instruments to students on a first come, first served basis.

Washington Performing Arts' Capital Voices Camp is a two-week program for young singers designed to broaden their vocal range and technique while building skills in leadership, team-building, and self-confidence. Based on the training for Washington Performing Arts’ renowned Children of the Gospel Choir, the Capital Voices Camp will allow students to work with a talented faculty of singers and choral directors who will lead them in rehearsals as well as a variety of classes to include vocal technique, composition workshops, and master classes with guest artists. The camp will culminate with a student led performance of vocal music from multiple genres, including world music, blues, and Gospel!
