The exceptional artistry of the Rotterdam Philharmonic comes to Washington, D.C., for the first time in more than two decades. Music Director Lahav Shani directs a program including superstar pianist Daniil Trifonov for Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 9 "Jeunehomme,” plus excerpts from Sergei Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet, and Arvo Pärt's moving and contemplative Swansong.

Sir Simon Rattle makes his first visit to D.C. in more than 20 years as chief conductor of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and with a performance of orchestral showpieces. Hear Beethoven's “Pastoral” Symphony, Wagner's Prelude und Liebestod, and Alexander von Zemlinsky's Symphony Gesänge, performed with baritone Lester Lynch. One of only four U.S. performances in 2024.
