A Tribute to the American Spirit
We invite you to enjoy this archival stream of a one-of-a-kind online Independence Day celebration: A Tribute to the American Spirit. With physically distanced performances of patriotic favorites and more, all streamed from Washington, D.C., the concert was headlined by longtime Washington Performing Arts collaborators the U.S. Air Force Band, joined by three very special guests: Grammy-winning violin virtuoso and WPA favorite Joshua Bell; bass and WPA Children of the Gospel Choir alumnus Soloman Howard, renowned for roles with the Metropolitan Opera, Washington National Opera, and other major companies; and soprano Larisa Martínez, whose voice has graced the stages of Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, and other premier venues. With introductions by host and NBC4 morning anchor Aaron Gilchrist, the concert was designed to "commemorate Independence Day, honor veterans, and highlight the resilience of all Americans."
Co-presented by Washington Performing Arts, The U.S. Air Force Band, and National Harbor.
