Cramton Auditorium

Located on Howard University’s campus, Cramton Auditorium is the host for concerts, Howard student fashion shows, graduations, and more. Designed by Hilyard Robinson and Paul Revere Williams in 1961, Cramton Auditorium allows seating for up to 1500 guests on the historic Howard University campus.

Don’t miss: In 1989, Richard Hunt’s Freedmen’s Column was erected outside of the front entrance of the theater. The sculpture ushers in audiences and is an homage to the Black men and women who obtained freedom from enslavement.

Elevators & Accessibility

Cramton is equipped with accessible seating throughout the auditorium. There is also a dedicated accessible entrance in the front of the building.

Public Transportation

Cramton Auditorium is located 15 minutes (walking distance) from the Shaw/Howard University metro station (Green and Yellow Lines). The 70 metrobus also stops one block away from the auditorium (Georgia Avenue & Euclid Street NW stop).

Parking

Street parking is available (meters) near Cramton Auditorium. Metered parking is free after 6:30 p.m. on weekdays, and free Saturday and Sunday. Parking is also available in Howard University’s visitor lots for $10. You can reserve your spot by visiting RunParking.

Bag Policy

Campus security will present for all events. All bags are subject to search. Bags must not exceed 12”x12”x6.” Professional photography equipment, as well as outside food and beverages, are not permitted inside the auditorium.
