Washington Performing Arts Privacy Policy

This policy covers how Washington Performing Arts treats the personal information that it collects from its patrons in any manner, including via phone, by mail and at our partner venues.

Collection of Information

You may visit and browse the Washington Performing Arts websites as you like without logging in and no personal information about your visit will be collected.

When you create an account or log in at WashingtonPerformingArts.org, you share your first name, last name, email, and mailing address with us. When transacting a sale, we also require your credit card number.

Email Addresses

When you provide your email address to Washington Performing Arts, we will periodically contact you through email, providing you information about your account, upcoming concerts, special offers, Washington Performing Arts updates, contest opportunities, etc.  If you prefer not to receive periodic email notices from Washington Performing Arts, a link to unsubscribe from email notices is provided at the bottom of each email message.

Mailing, Email and Trade Lists

You may review, change, or terminate your account at any time. You have the option to contact us by phone or email to request that we remove your name from our mailing and/or calling, email, and/or trade list. If you opt to be taken off our mailing list, you will receive no mail from us, including publications or special notices. If you opt to be removed from our calling list, you will receive no calls from us except when a performance is canceled.

Financial Information

Washington Performing Arts will protect any financial information you provide to us. If you make a purchase online, your credit card is encrypted using current secure communication technologies, and is not stored in our system.. Your order information will be stored on our secure servers, but this information is never shared with third parties. We restrict access to customer financial information for use by authorized Washington Performing Arts employees only.
Cookies

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Cookies and Web Beacons

Cookies are small bits of data transferred to your computer by a website to facilitate your online experience. Washington Performing Arts uses cookies and other tracking mechanisms across our websites and social media platforms. These technologies work by sending a small amount of data from our websites which is stored on your computer’s hard drive (“cookies”). Cookies are only used to assist in customer log-in functions, track the progress of e-commerce transactions, and to record session information in order to analyze website effectiveness.

When we send you emails, we may include a web beacon to allow us to determine the number of people who open our emails. When you click on a link in an email, we may record this individual response to allow us to customize our offerings to you. Web beacons collect only limited information, such as a cookie identifier, time and date of a page being viewed, and a description of the page on which the web beacon resides (the URL).

Web beacons can be refused when delivered via email. If you do not wish to receive web beacons via email, you will need to disable HTML images or refuse HTML (select Text only) emails via your email software.

Tracking tags that gather and use your information through any third-party services are governed by that service’s privacy policy, which may differ from Washington Performing Arts’s policies.  Washington Performing Arts is not responsible for the privacy practices or the use of the data collected by these third-party services.

Passwords

When you create an account online, you will be asked to select a password, in order to protect your account. Passwords are kept confidential and will not allow access to payment information such as credit card numbers, etc. If you have forgotten your password or experience trouble signing in, contact us for assistance at (202) 785-9727, Monday-Friday, 9:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Uses of Personal Information

Washington Performing Arts uses the personal information it collects to process your orders, to notify you of event changes and updates, and to personalize your web site experience, offering you unique ticket offers or event invitations based on your interests. Any personal information collected is used by Washington Performing Arts employees only and is not sold to any outside parties. Washington Performing Arts occasionally shares information with other non-profit arts organizations. We will, on occasion, share information gathered from our patrons with selected third-party vendors and business partners who assist Washington Performing Arts with presenting, promoting, and marketing our programs and services. This information may include your name, address, and/or e-mail address. Sharing of information (name, address, and/or e-mail address) may include purposes of customer research, management of customer databases, promotional mailings, or other targeted promotions. At any time, you may request that we do not share your name and address or phone numbers with such third parties. Washington Performing Arts does not monitor or control the privacy policies of such third parties.

However, despite our safeguards and efforts to secure your information, no electronic transmission over the internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information. Although we will do our best to protect your personal information, transmission of personal information to and from our services is at your own risk. You should only access the services within a secure environment. Washington Performing Arts will alert patrons to breaches and offer such additional protections as we can
